Bladder tumors arising within or involving a bladder diverticulum are uncommon, and pose a unique diagnostic and therapeutic challenge.
A 58-year-old man with bladder cancer diagnosed by cystoscopy had FDG PET/CT and Tc-MAG3 renal scan. The images demonstrated a large bladder diverticulum continuous from and within the tumor. Surgical pathology from transurethral partial resection of the bladder diverticulum showed high-grade carcinoma, mixed transitional with squamous cells invading into the muscularis propria.
