The "pancake" adrenal - Abstract

The pancake has been used as the metaphorical description for the abnormal appearance of the adrenal gland when the ipsilateral kidney is absent from the renal fossa.

Once detected, the abnormal adrenal appearance should prompt a careful survey of the patient to exclude renal agenesis or discover the ectopic kidney, conditions often associated with other congenital anomalies.
