BERKELEY, CA (UroToday.com) - Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is one of the uncommon malignancies.
Worldwide, the annual incidence is only 1 – 2 per million.[ 1 ] In the USA, it is estimated that ≈ 300 cases of ACC occur per year.[ 1 ] There is a slight predominance in women and the female: male ratio is approximately 4:3.[ 2,3 ] A bimodal age distribution has been reported, with the first peak occurring before age 5, and the second one in the fourth to fifth decades. Geographical factors may also play a role. A higher incidence of ACC is found in certain regions, such as in southern and southwestern Brazil.
