BERKELEY, CA (UroToday.com) - This article was based on a compilation of data from the past and present. The successes we found in the patients described, and the continued challenges pain physicians face in treating pelvic pain, only illustrate the need for further studies on a greater number of patients. As mentioned in the study, there has yet to be a defined paradigm for treating pelvic pain. Moreover, with the advent of spinal cord stimulators, there need to be more studies to delineate what works best to help the leaders of our field construct a consensus guideline for the use of these devices in pelvic pain.
Our immediate goal is to repeat this study, with stricter criteria and a larger number of patients.
