Department of Urology at UC Irvine: Leadership and Innovation Fellowship Training (LIFT) Program: Accepting Program Applications
Up to two positions are offered per year to third-year or fourth-year students attending a US medical school. LIFT research fellows work in the Department of Urology at UC Irvine, conducting some of the most innovative research in urology today. The Department has an excellent track record of carrying out award-winning research projects, and receiving national and international recognition at several urology conferences, including the annual AUA meeting.
Overall, the position offers great networking opportunities, sponsored travel to national and international conferences to present one's research, and surgical lab experience. Previous LIFT fellows have all published many peer-reviewed articles, and presented their work at several annual conferences, among numerous other accomplishments. By the end of their year, LIFT fellows have a thorough understanding of conducting clinical research (including project conception, to IRB and grant preparation, patient recruitment, and manuscript preparation).
