Temple University Hospital’s Dr. Eun to Present 3D Clinical Advantages in Booth #2275

Sony Electronics’ Medical Systems Division announces that Dr. Daniel Eun, Vice Chief, Robotic Surgery and Director, Minimally Invasive Robotic Urological Oncology, Temple University Hospital, will present on his use of the Sony 3D system at the American Urological Association (AUA) Annual Meeting, on May 18, in Sony’s booth #2275. His presentation, Optimizing Da Vinci’s 3D visualization for the entire surgical team, will provide an overview of Dr. Eun’s use of Sony’s 3D system to enhance the training and education of the residents and fellow surgeons at Temple University Hospital.

“I had the opportunity to train in 3D. When we began to plan and outfit the Temple OR, I felt strongly that I wanted my students to train in the same manner. The Sony 3D system provides better quality, more effective training in the OR,” shares Dr. Eun. “In addition, being able to review surgeries in 3D, rather than 2D, allows for more nuanced and detailed assessment of technique and result – leading to better learning among my students.”

The advanced Sony 3D solution allows everyone in the OR to see what the primary surgeon sees, resulting in improved workflow in the OR. The system is designed for easy integration with da Vinci® S and SI robotic surgical systems, and delivers superb image quality. Sony’s full portfolio of 3D surgical solutions will be showcased at AUA, including:

  • The LMD-3251MT medical display, a 32-inch 3D medical display with widescreen Full HD 3D, featuring Sony's circular micro-polarizing technology to deliver superb lifelike images. It is also 2D/3D switchable and features backlight technology that is specifically designed for use in medical environments.
  • The HVO-3000MT recorder, which allows users to capture 2D and 3D video from the robotic system for post-op review and for use in training and education. Users can record up to 31 hours of high-quality images onto the system’s internal hard drive and to a variety of removable media including Blu-ray™ disk, DVD disk, USB removable hard disk, and USB flash memory, all from the da Vinci S or Si systems. Serving the hospital’s visual needs beyond the OR Sony will also showcase products that serve the business side of healthcare, including the new 4K Vision Presenter technology, PWA-VP100, and the world’s first 3LCD laser light source projector, VPL-FHZ55, now available for the medical community. These products enable Sony to provide end-to-end viewing needs throughout the hospital, from the operating room to the board room.

Sony invites AUA attendees to attend Dr. Eun’s presentation on Sunday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. in booth #2275. For more details on Sony’s 3D solutions please visit www.sony.com/3Dforsurgery.
