AUA 2016: Trends in Supraspinal Variation in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis and Detrusor Sphincter Dyssenergia - Session Highlights

San Diego, CA USA (UroToday.com) Rose Khavari presented data on 20 ambulatory female Multiple Sclerosis patients with lower urinary tract dysfunction with and without detrusor sphincter dyssynergia who underwent fMRI with data collected at strong desire to void and during spontaneous voiding.

They found that patients with Multiple Sclerosis and lower urinary tract dysfunction had prominent activity in many similar areas to healthy controls initiating voiding, but less activity than healthy controls in the occipital lobe and temporal gyrus. The three patients with detrusor sphincter dyssynergia had trend toward activation in distinct areas when compared to Multiple Sclerosis patients without detrusor sphincter dyssynergia.
